Event Description

Pet lovers, music lovers and their dogs are invited out to join the Humane Society for Hamilton County in celebrating “Dog Day Afternoon featuring Woofstock” on Sunday, September 11th in the Carmel Civic Square (next to Carmel City Hall, Gazebo and Fountains). The fourth annual Dog Day Afternoon featuring Woofstock is an afternoon of fun designed for the entire family.

Exciting activities are planned from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Nearly 100 exhibitors and vendors will be set up including pet products, jewelry and art, delicious food and more! Andi Hauser of Indy Style and My107!9 will emcee the day’s activities which include:

  • Zeko Shoes Parade of Paws Dog Walk on the Monon Trail—Registration at 10:30am
  • Paws and Remember Opening Ceremony remembering those who lost their lives during 9-11 and honoring those who serve our county and communities. Canine special guest is ‘Kaiser’ – a search and rescue hero who served at Ground Zero.
  • Live music all day long on the Woofstock Stage- featuring The Jester Kings.
  • Lockhart Cadillac Pet Contests including our annual Costume and Pet Star Competitions.
  • Kids activities all day at the Marsh Kids Corner including Silly Safari, a K9 obedience demonstration, and VCA veterinarian Dr. Paul and his furry friends.
  • PetCo Adoption Area with adoptable pets.

“This is an excellent opportunity to bring the community together and celebrate the canine-human bond.  In addition to a day of family fun, our goal is to provide educational tools to both children and adults on how to be responsible pet owners,” said Rebecca Stevens, executive director of the Humane Society for Hamilton County. “Last year’s event drew more than 5,000 pet lovers, and we expect even more this year.”

The event is open to the public. Adults (18 and over) are asked to donate $5 to the Humane Society for Hamilton County for admission. Military, police and firefighters, as well as their immediate families, who attend in uniform or with ID will be welcome free of charge.  Children and canines are also FREE.  All pets must be current on vaccinations and on-leash at all times.

Dog Day Afternoon featuring Woofstock is an annual fundraiser that helps the Humane Society for Hamilton County provide the basic and life-saving care to nearly 3,500 unwanted and abused animals that arrive each year.  This event is made possible by VCA Animal Hospitals and the Lumina Foundation.  It is sponsored by 99.5 WZPL, My107!9, Indy Style, Harrison College of Veterinary Technology, Lockhart Cadillac, Zeko Shoes, Marsh, NUVO, Duke Realty, Krieg DeVault, Poo Patrol, Diana Dunn, Three Dog Bakery, PetCo and PetPals TV.

I will be there, but perhaps leave Louie at home since I have to work and do a story on all the vendors and folks attending...Louie likes to be the center of attention, and when I am working he kinda gets bored with what I am doing...and how I do it...I know, everyone's a critic!

Indiana’s Weather For Race Day!

Temperatures will climb like Castroneves today. It will be hot enough for Guy Fieri to fry an egg on the sidewalk. The STAR’s Curt Cavin says the kind of heat I’m forecasting for today will translate to about 140 degrees ON the track. Overheated tires may lay down excess rubber, making the track slippery and [...]
