They’ve made a list, and checked it twice. And now Indianapolis Veterinary Emergency Center (IVEC) is asking area residents to join them in playing Secret Santa to a very special group of four-legged furry friends.
Immediately following Thanksgiving, IVEC will collect pet food, toys, cleaning supplies and other items through Jan. 1. All donations benefit animals currently sheltered by Indianapolis Animal Care & Control (IACC) and Cat’s Haven.
Donors are welcome to stop by IVEC anytime as it is open 24 hours a day.
According to shelter officials, the holiday wish list this season includes:
Food-Canned & dry dog and cat food, treats, meat baby food (specifically ham and chicken with broth).
Pet Toys-Dog & cat toys, Kongs™, sterilized natural beef bones.
Animal Care Supplies-Little Noses saline drops, clay cat litter, hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, pet clippers, grooming brushes, pet carriers, pet beds, nail trimmers, digital thermometers, pet shampoo, flea control products, blankets, towels, fans, hand sanitizer, alcohol-free baby wipes, large trash barrels.
Cleaning Supplies- Bleach, paper towels, Lime Away™, hoses, scrub brushes, rubber boots, rubber gloves, dish soap, plastic dust pans, brooms & buckets, liquid laundry detergent, mops & scouring pads, large trash bags, spray bottles, white vinegar.
Monetary donations, which are tax-deductible, are also accepted to help cover medical expenses. Cat’s Haven alone faces vet bills running over $2,000 some months.
