A family-friendly day of events to educate and dispel myths about pit bull terriers is scheduled for Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC), as part of Pit Bull Education Month.
The free event will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2010, starting with a Pit Parade at 12:30 p.m. Pit Bull and Pix mix owners are welcome to bring their leashed pets out to parade through the Hamilton County Fairgrounds to show their Pit Bull pride. The parade is followed by two free seminars – 2 p.m.: The American Pitbull Terrier: Fact Versus Fiction; and 3:30 p.m.: Dog Safety Tips & a Meet the Pack Demonstration by Fernando Pastran. While the seminars are free, space is limited so reservations are required. To register, call Mandy Maxwell at 317-219-4630 or email mmaxwell@hamiltonhumane.com.
The voice of the Indiana Pacers, Chris Denari, and his Pit Bull, Bailey, are scheduled to appear and will be participating in the “Kiss a Pit” booth in the HSHC lobby starting at 12 p.m. Bailey was adopted from the HSHC in 2009.
HSHC will discount adult Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes during the month of March to $50. Qualifying dogs will have a picture of the shelter’s Pit Bull Ambassador, Chulo, on their cage or kennel.
Who Needs Therapy?
Do you think your dog has what it takes to become a Therapy Dog? Julie Case, at Invisible Fence, is one of the few trainers in town who not only can test your dog's temperament and give him training for the job, she can even CERTIFY your pet as a Therapy Dog.
Watch Louie get his certificate, and see for yourself...is your dog capable of this?
