ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR PET OWNERS FACING WINTER WITH LITTLE OR NO INCOME

The aftermath of job loss is never easy, albeit, uemployment does soften the blow quite a bit.  Extension benefits  given after unemployment benefits run out for most people (everyone may not have received them) who'd been out of work from jobs that  never recovered from the recession and/or never called them back are definitely a lifesaver tossed out to those drowning in the stormy sea of financial woe.   Especially since searching for another job may have gone on for over a year,  not resulted in replacing their lost income  for many regardless of their efforts to find work.   The burden bourne by the unemployed is often shared by family members and friends but often their help turns to bitterness and resentment for some, abandonment for others and always an endless struggle to keep their faith and remain hopeful for the victims of  a broken economic system.

Once winter enters the picture, those whose faith and hope were starting to waver from the dynamics of the broken economic system are faced with an even more alarming scenario as their final unemployment extensions expire --how to survive on zero income!  With the rent or mortgage over 3-7 months late and foreclosure warnings in the mailbox, utilities  turned off   pet owners must starve or get foodstamps and since the utilities are off their home is too cold to think clearly; their body and clothes are unkept because their is no hot water or any water at all and no food can be cooked on their own stove.  They must beg for help from family members and friends just to to survive.  Were this the ice age human dignity might prevail, but since it is 2012 one can only wonder why they are no better off than a caveman.  Some may be lucky enough to get help from family members or friends at this stage, but most people and their pets aren't so lucky.

This is the scenario I, myself and many others are faced with this winter dispite all our efforts to obtain jobs; start businesses or increase our education in a desparate attempt to fix the broken economic system that destroys and desecrates lives of American citizens indiscriminately and with total disregard for the U.S. Constitutuion or any other protests  to cease and dissist or to at least spare our children from facing the same fate someday.  Instead we are mocked by those who benefit from this vile economic system and  lead astray by dubious manipulators whose only recourse is  to turn tail in face and promise business as usual marches on.

If there were an election that my vote would guarantee people and their pets didn't lose their homes and basic comforts,  I would vote for that to happen, but instead all my and anyone elses votes ever seems to guarantee is that we'll have business and politics  as usual.   Why for once on this Earth can't we make things simple and guarantee all Americans have life liberty and a mentally/physically healthy and safe environment in which to live and love our families and pets.  Such a simple thing, yet so hard to get!

We must tell our elected government officials to fix this broken economy!  The following are some alternatives solutions to doing business as usual:

1.  Expand the Habitat for Humanity program to include provisions for repairing homes that have serious plumbing; roofing and other structural issues that lessen the life of the home.

2.   Provide a permanent safety net so that any American would be able to be a home owner without fear of an unstable job market causing them to lose all they put into getting their first home.

3.   Provide allowances for pet food & health needs when considering a family's household needs during an economic crises.

I'd rather see our tax dollars going to  pay to provide these basic living comforts than  to pay for war or to make  politicians, lobbyists and corporate executives obscenely rich .

What say ye?

Indiana’s Weather For Race Day!

race-weekend-scaled
Temperatures will climb like Castroneves today. It will be hot enough for Guy Fieri to fry an egg on the sidewalk. The STAR’s Curt Cavin says the kind of heat I’m forecasting for today will translate to about 140 degrees ON the track. Overheated tires may lay down excess rubber, making the track slippery and [...]
