Verizon Wireless Music Center is Going to the Dogs!

Grab your leashes, oil your strollers and get your dancin’ shoes on! Woofstock is a fun-filled event for the whole family – including Fido! Presented by VCA Animal Hospitals, Woofstock 2010 takes place at Verizon Wireless Music Center (12880 E. 146th St in Noblesville) on June 12, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (rain date: June 13). All proceeds from Woofstock benefit the Humane Society for Hamilton County.

Now in its third year, Woofstock includes a human/K-9 walk; live music by Lemon Wheel, the Handicapper Generals, and KJ & the Jester Kings; pet and people contests (including the Pet Supplies Plus Pet Star Contest and the Doggie Dance Off), local celebrities and their pets, pet vendors and service organizations, adoptable pets, microchipping, and much more!  Chris Denari, the voice of the Indiana Pacers, and his dog, Bailey, will be emceeing the event.

Woofstock is an annual fundraiser developed to bring in the funds needed to care for the nearly 4,000 pets that are surrendered or come in as strays to the Humane Society for Hamilton County. The public is invited to join the fundraising efforts at www.firstgiving.com/hamiltonhumane. Prize packages will be awarded to the top team and individual fundraiser.

Woofstock tickets will be available at Verizon Wireless Music Center the day of the event.  Ticket price is $10, children ages 5 and under are free.

For more information on Woofstock, call the Humane Society for Hamilton County at 317-219-3324 or visit http://www.woofstockchallenge.com.

Sounds like fun -- see you there!
Love on a Leash, Foundation for Pet Provided will be there. Our booth will feature handmade treat jars, breed specific greeting cards and more. We will also have a 25 cent treat machine. This is all for our fundraising efforts.

If you would like to learn more about pet therapy or maybe have a dog that you think could be a therapy dog stop by and talk to us and we can guide you through the process and give you some materials to look over.

Come meet some of our therapy dogs. They will be at our tent strutting their stuff.

Look forward to meeting everyone.

I wish it wasn't always on the same weekend as Scales & Tails at the Indiana State Museum, PBS Kids at the Park, and Talbott Street Art Fair. Just one week later and there is nothing going on! We probably won't get to come again this year because of our other commitments.
Unfortunately this was the only date that Verizon had available. But, next year we will have more flexibility with the date as we are changing to a more park-like location. :)

From Paul Poteet:

Indiana’s Weather For Saturday

seven-day-indy-scaled
What’s the biggest weather story today? The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind. Blame last night’s Arctic cold front for frigid, frisky breezes gusting to 30 mph today. That will keep chills in the single digits during the day, and near zero tonight. It won’t be quite as windy tomorrow, and the prospects [...]
