Hi Barb, Hi Susan,
just a reminder that Pet Pals TV is on Sunday, May 16th tomorrow, at 11am, WTHR...some adorable videos of cats caught on 'candid camera' for the kitty lovers, like me, too!

So gret to see Barb and Susan at the Humane Society of Indy Memorial for those kitties lost to the virus...it was a very nice turnout...and John Alshire, as always, spoke so elequently...started to cry...but, we need to look to the future and be good to the pets who share our lives..and be grateful to have them, too!

What a wonderful place! I have disabled kitties...born with congenital cataracts....one's nearly blind. Just the thought of them being put to sleep because they are defective sickens me. I'm so grateful that Cat's Haven is a no kill shelter and as a fellow cat lover, my heart goes out to those wonderful ladies...I'm glad Petpals showed the shelter, because people like me would never have been able to go to it ourselves. Wonderful, wonderful place.

I found three dead cats within the space of 7 days around my neighborhood. I reported this to Indy Feral, IMPD, Cats Haven, Animal Care and Control, the Prosecutor's office, and the Mayor's Action Center. I don't know whether the animals were poisened, or injured. The city has reacted slowly on picking up the dead animals, because it was on private property.

What I learned today, is that feral colonies that individuals take care of need to be registered with Indy Feral, and I did not know this. Also, cats are supposed to be confined if they are outside, and not allowed to run around. Anyone who loves cats realizes how difficult this can be especially when they want to get out, they slide out the door. So the inside war begins.

I met Barb when I was IndyPaws.com site manager, and ended up adopting Puma, an ocicat. He's changed our world, though we have 5 other pets! Thanks Barb, for being so selfless and mission-minded and taking care of those who can't take care of themselves and those who others wouldn't take care of! We have a full house now, but look forward to adopting more later! You rock!

Greeting people....

A very common issue people have with their dogs is that they jump on people who visit the home. The problem typically starts with their guests--often dog lovers that greet the dogs with all those silly voices, oohs and ahhs. They're anxious to pet and love all over the dogs, and that creates over-excitement. Dogs learn very quickly the association between the door bell and the attention that follows.

That problem can be fixed very easily with proper handling by the owner and the cooper
