One Day Only $25 Feline Adoptions and $45 Canine Adoptions at Humane Society for Hamilton County
Noblesville, Ind. – The Humane Society for Hamilton County will be hosting a special one-day-only adoption event at its facility, 1721 Pleasant Street in Noblesville from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 14. In celebration of the Colts kicking off their pre-season game, the event will feature football themed incentives and discounted adoption rates to help find homes for the more than 700 homeless cats and dogs currently at the shelter.
“The shelter is at maximum capacity,” said Executive Director Rebecca Stevens. “We simply have no room with every cage and kennel is filled. These are difficult economic times for everyone, and we are doing our very best to keep up with the number of strays and owner surrendered pets who desperately need us.”
So far in 2010, the shelter has taken in nearly 2,000 animals. In many instances, the animals are older and require more medical care.
To incent kitten and cat adoptions, the event will feature special adoption fees for cats and dogs six-months of age or older: $25/cats and $45/dogs all day. In addition, everyone that adopts a cat or dog at the event will be entered for a chance to win a pair of Colts tickets (three sets will be given away). The first 25 approved adopters will receive a goody bag of dog and cat products.
All cats and dogs will be spayed or neutered, and adopters will receive a complimentary wellness exam and a certificate for a free rabies vaccine which is redeemable at any of the shelter’s participating veterinarians unless noted otherwise. Each dog or cat also receives 30 days of free pet insurance and will have received, at a minimum, their first round of vaccinations, be de-wormed, and will have received a heartworm/flea & tick preventative. They will also come with a complimentary five pound bag of Science Diet pet food.
In addition, all dogs and cats are microchipped and registered to the adopter for free.
“As one of the area’s only shelters giving every adoptable animal a chance to know a loving home regardless of age, breed, medical needs, disability or space constraints, the community can come out and show their support for the work we do by adopting one of these deserving animals,” Stevens added. “ We encourage the community to help us accomplish our mission of providing these animals with their best chance for a second chance as we simply cannot do it alone.”
Even if someone is unable to adopt a pet, they can support the shelter by making a one-time or sustained financial contribution, by fostering or by volunteering. For more information, log on to www.hamiltonhumane.com or call the shelter at 317-773-4974.
About the Humane Society for Hamilton County
The Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. It is not a United Way Agency, and is not affiliated with any other animal welfare group in the United States. The HSHC also serves as the animal control facility for Hamilton County, and, as such, receives partial funding from Hamilton County. The majority of the HSHC budget is funded by private donors. The HSHC will not euthanize animals for space and time, and will treat sick and injured animals if there’s an outlook for recovery and a high quality of life. Many animals are hit-by-car injured, heartworm-positive, malnourished, or otherwise wounded and/or sick. The HSHC will provide most of these animals with life-saving treatments, surgeries and medications as their best chance for a second chance and until they are re-homed.
