We all have heard this expression a hundred times over the course of our lifetime. I feel it should be for our pets too. My concern is the al
arming number of overweight dogs and cats.
We all have choices. The choice of food that we feed to our pets is very important. Not the cheapest but a good quality food. I happen to fe

They are more than just making our pets look cute. Whiskers are there for a reason. They are feelers or radar. Whiskers are long thick hair with extra nerves. Whiskers are very sensitive.
Cats depend on their whiskers more than dogs. We know that they use them to see if they can crawl into something. If they feel the sides, they don't go in. Our fat cats had longer whiskers than our thin cats. Whiskers grow to the width of the cat. Cats use their whiskers in just…

April 1st. is not only April Fools Day, it's also when I start putting the flea/tick control on the girls. They get it from April to November. Oh! How I remember back in the day when we didn't have the wonderful flea/tick controls. I wanted the warm weather but I dreaded the thought of dealing with the fleas…

I didn't mean to offend you if I did. The comment wasn't really geared directly towards you...it was toward ANYONE who allows their dog to stick their head out the window, and I should have made that clear, and I did not. I am good at that! :)
I too have had the window go up on my dog's neck, and that was a lesson learned. Accidents DO happen!
This is a topic that means a lot to me after seeing so many dogs in the clinic injured due to sticking their heads out of the window. I just want people to realize how dangerous it really is to allow their dog to do that. It only takes one time to lose an eye from a pebble.
Again, I didn't mean to seem like I was singling you out, as I was out. Sometimes my brain gets the best of me while I type and I don't word it good.
Love the Jeep netting though! That is pretty cool!
Brittany Ferguson said… Oh my goodness, if I didn't have Lucy's ashes I'd be a wreck. I'd feel like I completely lost her, so I not only have that beautiful urn, but my dad bought me this necklace that holds a bit of the ashes and has paw prints cut out. I'm planning to wear it at my college graduation so that I can feel like she's celebrating with me. I know others think it's a bit weird, but she was the best dog I've ever had and it gives me comfort knowing I still have her with me. :)

Angela M said… Diana-- I love beagles too! My mom and dad have one. I don't think I've seen a dog yet that can match the Vizsla as far as energy-- they can keep up with whippets at the dog park. That being said, they have been snoozing a lot this winter. And being a little down about the weather. They let you know how they feel, for sure.
I agree with you that dogs are a gift from God! They are so good for people when they are a good match. So often I thank God for the opportunity to take care of these guys-- they are a lot of work, but they help me keep things in perspective.

Holly Anderson said… Thank you! Joshua is just a dream puppy, he really is. He will be 5 months old on the 26th.
His training is going amazingly well. He's one smart cookie. Just last night at training class (it was just us and the trainers!), they were just gushing about the progress he has made in the 5 classes of this session alone - and that he is a real testament to so many things -- rescue dogs, beginning training early (he began at nine weeks), deaf dogs ...
So we are continuing his training, the next session begins next week. I'm enjoying him so much!
brenda farmer said… Thank you for your comments. I absolutely adore my Labradoodle. When I begin thinking about another dog I was leaning toward Berndoodles. But because of the $$$$ and not finding any nearby, I began to narrow my search for Hadley (my Labradoodle). He's 8 mos and about 65 lbs. He thinks he's a rock star!
As we raise cattle and the border collie is a pet first, but also help herd. We have had two other BCs, but they are no longer with us. One of our two original BC brothers was killled. We soon got another puppy so he could be trained. The old and new dog got along fabulously until one day they were out playing, I was working in the yard. The older dog ran up to me barking hysterically and the puppy wasn't with him. It was as if the older dog wanted me to follow him (which at the time I thought, no this only happens on the Lassie tv show). But I did begin to follow him through three fields toward our creek. I couldn't believe when I climbed up on the creek bank and looked over to the other side I saw our new puppy in the mouth of a coyote! The coyote had grapped the puppy by the neck, drug him across the creek and was holding him by the neck. I threw everything I could at the coyote who finally dropped the pup and walked away. Puppy had sev eral puncture wounds on neck and even though I immediately took him to vet, he didn't make it. It was truly a sad day when the older BC got too old to live a good life and we had to say goodbye to him. I still get chills thinking about that day.
Oh no! It’s very possible the poor guy has a tummyache. Maybe his prepared kibble is giving him some acid reflux? But, it could also be a hiatal hernia, which is a weakness of the diaphragm that allows a bubble from the stomach to come up into the chest cavity.

Humans with this have GERD – gastroesophageal reflux disease -- and are often given antacids, which have been linked to…
