Pet Name(s)
My kitty's name was Sox (short for Socrates). He was 16 and I had to put him down. :(

How have your pet(s) changed your life for the better?
I had pets when I was really little because I lived on a farm. I had my very own rooster that I raised from the day it hatched. We also had tons of cats, I had a collie named Lassie, and we had horses, goats, peacocks, chickens, and other random critters. My mother passed away and I was adopted. When I moved in with my new family they got me a cat less than a year later (I was about 9 years old). Sox was just a kitten, and he and I grew up together. He was my closest and best friend. Having pets helped me learn how to be responsible. Now that Sox is gone, I keep his collar on my keyring. It has a bell on it (he used to chase birds) so it sounds like he's walking across the room when I move. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about my cat, and one day I'll have another when I'm not living in a cramped apartment and I have a job that doesn't require me to be away from home a lot.
What's the strangest/cutest habit your pet(s) have?
When Sox was younger he used to just sit there, like he was asleep, then suddenly jump up and TEAR across the room, then run back to where he was, chew on his tail or something, then settle back down. SO WEIRD! He also chased his tail as a kitten, but only on my bed, in the middle of the night, when I was sleeping LOL.

Dr. Cathy

My dog licks the furniture constantly. What is this about?

Oh no! It’s very possible the poor guy has a tummyache. Maybe his prepared kibble is giving him some acid reflux? But, it could also be a hiatal hernia, which is a weakness of the diaphragm that allows a bubble from the stomach to come up into the chest cavity.

Humans with this have GERD – gastroesophageal reflux disease -- and are often given antacids, which have been linked to…

Indiana’s Weather For Wednesday

seven-day-indy-scaled
Take a deep breath. We are finished with the 80′s and 90′s for the rest of the week and at least half the weekend. Expect breezy, dry west to northwest winds today and a good dose of sunshine. The mix tomorrow will be mostly clouds, and we’ve got a decent shot at wonderfully wet, widespread [...]
