Sad Update: Baby Panda at Zoo Does Not Survive

Posted on June 6, 2013 at 12:00am 1 Comment

A baby red panda born days ago at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo has died.

The zoo announced Friday that a male cub born on Monday had died. A necropsy conducted by the zoo's veterinary staff revealed that the cub had not ingested any milk. That could mean that the cub did not nurse, or that its mother, 3-year-old Xiao, did not produce any milk.

Two cubs were born to Xiao and her 4-year-old mate, Junjie, last year, but neither…

  No, not quite...but close!

Check out the new movie 'Turbo' about a snail who wants to win a race at the Indianapolis 500. It's an animated film with lots of fantastic 500 crafted shots and reflections..and Patty talks to the director and one of the 'voice' stars of the movie.  You'll enjoy this…

Hi Patty, Love the show and really want to get involved with some volunteer work for petpals. Remember my picture album of Chelsea that you borrowed? I would like to make arrangements to pick it up. Let me know when it would be a good time to get together. Candy

Patty,

Appreciate that. I put a full court press on sales this week so I hope to have a positive story to tell you on Friday.  I'm even calling the Elanco rep for this area as Pfizer has many products for heartworms, fleas, etc.   I don't  want to step on anyone's toes so let me also give you my Email address: jswander@wthitv.com.   I was thinking that if I  was lucky enough to get their interest why not sell it as a multi-market buy?  Indy and Terre Haute!   I would appreciate any insight you can give us.  I sat the staff down this morning and force fed your very interactive website to them saying that people like to feel connect with common bonds and your site does just that!  Very friendly and easy to navigate...and I love the pics, videos and archived shows.  I'll be in contact sometime this week but we have several events in need to work around.  Thanks again Patty. I'm with you all the way!!  JIM

Looking forward to meeting you Patty.

My intent is to secure a max. of two vets, then call on manufacturers' reps. In the animal husbandry field such as Elanco, Pfizer, etc. as if would be a great fit for them as I'm sure the show will be a big hit in this market.

If you could send me a list or jot down clients or types of clients you have been successful with, I would be deeply appreciative. (jswander@wthitv.com) I've asked our sales staff to target accounts and secure meetings with them over the next two weeks.  I want this SOLD, SECURED, and ready to launch asap!

I served on both the city and county animal control commissions as we hammered out working ordinances which would be enforceable. Wow, what a trip that was! I was booted off the city commission when they discovered I was NOT technically a city resident so I migrated to the county commission. Our work is done, now it's up to enforcement.

Someone once said that I loved animals more than people. I responded that in some cases that is true; I absolutely hate ignorant pet owners almost as bad as I hate irresponsible ones! Lol

Wish us luck and feel free to give me tips on who to pitch in our market.

Cordially,

"swando"

Thank you, Patty and thanks for your comment!  I've enjoyed you over the years and love the work you are doing for pets!  I have been trying to capture Harry saying hello for a long time.  It's like he knows when I'm trying to video him and he "clams" up!  But I will certainly keep trying.  He's something else!  Take care and have a great weekend!

HI patty, thanks for the  introduction, now where did you mean to post this about the pussy cats at IACC?   Here or in my disscussions??thanks
Jennifer Hamblen Seneff Jones Wish you'd consider doing a segment to help the IACC cats on harding. They are not allowed now to get out of there cages , except one cage at a time, and to be taken into the greet rooms, reasons being, virus spread.rooms must be cleaned after every cat visit!! New vet rules. The few volunteers there are for the cats there, will not be able to even get thru 3-4 cats a visit to get out to stretch there legs!! This means that the cats are stuck in there tiny stainless steel cages 24/7monthes on end if they make it that far!! Dont know if you have cats Patty, but my cats stroll my whole house all day.. they need to get out, just like the dogs do!! W e need adoptions, and fosters for IACC cats. Every one is about the dogs at IACC..The cats are taken to a few events.( state fair, flower and patio show) There only hope is the pet smart venue, for adoptions mostly. There is over 200 cats at any given time at iacc! makes me very sad. Rick Trost, a volunteer takes beautiful pictures of the cats for free for petfinder.com every week, good man! He should get recognition for this feat, hes got a page on facebook, called cats of iacc, i think it is!!If you need the exact name i could get for you!.... I cant go any more as a volunteer ,as i bring them home, and cant turn them off in my head!!.. If i get one more cat , the hubby will kill me. Like to keep this husband... lol.... I really wish IACC would consider more room, larger cages for the cats of IACC...Anything you ,or bethany could do to help there plight?? exposure ?? Thanks Jen Jones

Dr. Cathy's Blog

My dog just spent a week at the kennel, now he’s sick. What’s up with that? What could it be?

A week away from home can be quite stressful. Then, more stress on you when you pick up your loved one, who was reportedly fine at the kennel, and your baby is now sick. How many times have we been too busy to get sick, but when it’s time to relax – wham!! – come down with the flu? Same thing happens to our pets.…
