Patty What's New Pussycat?

Even though I grew up with dogs in the house, my father's dogs, when I became an 'adult' (of sorts) I always fancied cats. They suited my lifestyle better. For over 30 years in mainstream media broadcasting, I was always traveling. Even when I was in town, 12 hour days

Patty More Reasons Why We Love Them

I came home tonight after a grueling yet productive day and realized I had some clothes strewn on the floor upstairs, and there was some paper left on the floor in the den from something I had written and discarded, and 2 water bottles in another room in the corner.

Why am I admitting that I had a 'sloppy' day?

To illustrate a point...Louie, my Berner, doesn't care a whit. (Neither do the 4 kitties!)

Dogs and cats don't mind if you are messy, in fact, they

Erin Zaring DVM Rabies Remains Relevant

Out of sight, out of mind is how the old adage goes, but this is not a safe attitude to possess when it comes to a nearly 100% fatal infection like Rabies Virus. Most of us think that the “Old Yeller” days are behind us, and fortunately, cases of pet and human Rabies infection have been dramatically reduced through years of consistent public education and pet vaccination. However, Rabies Virus has not been eradicated, and cases still occur. Wild animals can harbor Rabies Virus and potentially tr… Continue

Patty In my Birthday Suit!

Yes, dear friends, time for yet another of those dreaded 'things' we celebrate, until about age 25. Then the party attitude turns to dismay, denial, then finally acceptance and acknowledgment...kinda like a disease! I'm talkin' bout birthdays!

I KNOW I'm lucky, and frankly surprised, I've lasted 56 years, but..I'm still howling at the moon. ( Not really, I'm generally in bed by 9pm!)

This morning, I am going to go to breakfast with a dear friend, who shares the same birt

Indiana Working Dogs Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

Westminster was on last night. What a great way to get to check out the different breeds that are out there. Tons of video on line with all the breeds registered by the AKC. I'm more of an obedience fan but then comformation does let us know about the breeding stock available. This goes nicely with The Indy Winter Classic that was over this past weekend.

To watch the different breed videos you can go to the Westminster Kennel Club

Patty Kiss, Hugs and Pant-Pant...Wags and Purrs...

A quick, but heartfelt and sincere thank you to all who made the latest PetPals TV show a great succcess, this Valentine's Day.

The best way to celebrate a holiday, to my way of thinking, is to give what you can to a cause you support and care about.. I love my pets, and I try to treat all creatures with respect and the dignity that they deserve as little souls on this earth with us. And it's so gratifiying to find so many people who love their critters, too.

I believe we are in

Will at The Animal Den Helping Pets Find Homes

Hi, this is Will from The Animal Den! I wanted to run a proposal by everyone. I have a large mutipurpose room which I would be willing to donate the use of it on Sundays for no charge(free) to any Rescue/Adoption group to hold an adoption event at. The room has its own outside entrance and I even have a large number of conference chairs you could use. Also I would like to say that I would be willing to house any Rescue/Adoption groups pets up for adoption for an extended period of time in my ken… Continue

RHarlor Hendricks County Animal Control and Hendricks County Humane Society Please Help

I tried to volunteer at the Hendricks County Animal Control and was shocked to discover they do not allow volunteers. I am now a member of a group that is working to make changes at Animal Control. We would like to have the Humane Society help Animal Control with volunteers, adoptions, etc. Apparently this is a much more difficult task than I originally thought. A member of the group I joined has created a Facebook page that outlines some of the problems. We are just looking to increase adopti… Continue

Indiana Working Dogs Consistency

Pick a training method. Any training method and there will be one common theme through them all. Consistency. I train with alot of dogs and people (the people are the hardest) and always communicating with your dog in the same way makes everyone's job easier. Having the words mean the same thing each time along with the same results for following them or not following is paramount in working with your dog. Let's take the command "Come" as an example. If I always want my dog to come when called… Continue
