Big shakeup at Greenfield-Hancock County Animal Control

There's a lot going on at Greenfield Animal Control: Wayne Guinn, the third person to leave the job in a little more than two years, resigned last Thursday with no explanation. Administrative assistant Misty Dean was fired the same day, and there's a police investigation involved in her departure. Rumors are flying and nobody's talking -- except Mayor Brad DeReamer, who probably has answers that he's not sharing. Rescue groups are worried about the animals. Even the…

Lost Pug - FOUND!!!

Someone opened my gate and let my Pug out. His name is Buggy. He is an intact male, tan with a black face, and was wearing a purple harness when he was lost. He was lost in the vicinity of 10th & Emerson at around 2:30 so there's no telling how far he's gone now. We are all sick with worry and my 7-year-old daughter has been crying for 5 hours. Please let me know if you find him. We need our Buggy back!…

Dumped Kitties need homes!

Some jerk dumped these two sweet kitties in front of my husbands work. They were crammed together in a very small crate and neighbors reported seeing them there for 13 hours or so until we found them.

The black and white one is male and the tabby is a female. They look to be pretty young, maybe 6 months old.

I will pay half of their spay/neuter and shot… Continue

What's New Pussycat?

Even though I grew up with dogs in the house, my father's dogs, when I became an 'adult' (of sorts) I always fancied cats. They suited my lifestyle better. For over 30 years in mainstream media broadcasting, I was always traveling. Even when I was in town, 12 hour days were not uncommon. A cat can abide by those hours, after all they sleep nearly 20 hours a day! So I'd have someone peek in on them while I was working to check on food water and…

More Reasons Why We Love Them

I came home tonight after a grueling yet productive day and realized I had some clothes strewn on the floor upstairs, and there was some paper left on the floor in the den from something I had written and discarded, and 2 water bottles in another room in the corner.

Dogs and cats don't mind if you are messy, in fact,…

Rabies Remains Relevant

Out of sight, out of mind is how the old adage goes, but this is not a safe attitude to possess when it comes to a nearly 100% fatal infection like Rabies Virus. Most of us think that the “Old Yeller” days are behind us, and fortunately, cases of pet and human Rabies infection have been dramatically reduced through years of consistent public education and pet vaccination. However, Rabies Virus has not been eradicated, and cases still occur. Wild animals can harbor Rabies Virus and potentially… Continue
