Administrative assistant Misty Dean was fired the same day, and there's a police investigation involved in her departure. Rumors are flying and nobody's talking -- except Mayor Brad DeReamer, who probably has answers that he's not sharing. Rescue groups are worried about the animals. Even the…

I’m a fan of series like The Complete Idiots Guide to Brain Surgery or Rocket Science for Dummies. Diabetes is a complicated disease that can not only afflict humans, but dogs and cats too. I learned about diabetes from our furry friends’ point of view in veterinary school, and…

What's New Pussycat?
Even though I grew up with dogs in the house, my father's dogs, when I became an 'adult' (of sorts) I always fancied cats. They suited my lifestyle better. For over 30 years in mainstream media broadcasting, I was always traveling. Even when I was in town, 12 hour days were not uncommon. A cat can abide by those hours, after all they sleep nearly 20 hours a day! So I'd have someone peek in on them while I was working to check on food water and…

More Reasons Why We Love Them
I came home tonight after a grueling yet productive day and realized I had some clothes strewn on the floor upstairs, and there was some paper left on the floor in the den from something I had written and discarded, and 2 water bottles in another room in the corner.

Sounds like someone has allergies. Typically, allergies are of three types – food, fleas and hay fever. If we prevent fleas, take care of the food allergies, then the hay fever allergies can be lessened. The most common food things that dogs are allergic to are the things they eat most commonly: chicken, beef, lamb, eggs, wheat, corn, soy. These are the things that are in all of their foods. Sometimes its as easy as go to a grain-free food. Sometimes, you have to do an elimination diet and…
