"Hi, I'm Lucky".....

by Lucky Brown

I mean, I really am..that's my name and that's my life story, too. You two-legged humans say I am a Siberian Husky. So funny people need these labels.

I'm just a dog.

I live in a nice house now, plenty of yummy food and treats! I love treats, don't you? And I have a wonderful human who cares for me. You might know him as Dustin, but I just know him as Daddy,

Before Daddy found me and took me home, life wasn't very nice at all. I… Continue

All of the money raised from this year's event has been earmarked to help pay the $2,500 veterinary bill for Goliath's heart surgery to correct the defective artery and valve in his heart. Your Family Dog May Be Smarter Than A Toddler

Your dog may not be smarter than a fifth grader, but your 4-legged friend might well be smarter than a toddler. This is according to a growing body of research on how dogs think.

Using adapted tests designed for human children, psychologists have learned that average dogs can count, reason and recognize words and gestures on par with a human 2 -year-old.

"They may not be Einsteins, but are sure closer to humans than we thought," said Stanley Coren, a professor… Continue

Touched By An Angel

I have a story to share with you. Stay with me. It starts out sad, but has a happy ending. And it reminds us that sometimes the worst thing that can happen to a neglected pet can turn around and be a blessing to that same animal.

I hope you enjoy Butchie's Story.

Lana is a DPF (dog park friend!) of mine. An easy smiling, playful, good-hearted lady who's stunning petite charms are readily noticed. But her facade is not nearly as beautiful as what lies beneath. Her… Continue

Paris Hilton's Dog House Costs More Than Many Homes

Paris Hilton obviously has not be touched by any recession, and neither have her dogs. The dog house is an exact replica to her house, and she paid over $325,000 for this mini mansion.

This will appear in the most recent version of Life & Style. “I designed it with the help of my interior decorator, Faye Resnick. I wanted it to be fun, cute, comfortable and beautiful. My friends just love… Continue

Welcome To The Jungle: A Huge Success!

From Rebecca Stevens, Executive Director, Humane Society for Hamilton County

I'm very excited to report that our first annual "Welcome to the Jungle" cat adoption event was wildly successful with 58 adoptions that day--a new record for any single day adoption event in our history! Goliath Needs Heart Surgery

Goliath is a 3-month old Chihuahua/something mix. He came to us with his seven brothers from a kill shelter when they were about 6-weeks old. Goliath was much, MUCH smaller than the rest -- weighing about 1 pound 4 ounces -- and we weren't sure he'd live through the first night. But Goliath is a fighter with a strong will to live, and he did survive that first night. We took him to the vet the next day, knowing that something must be wrong with… Continue

Kitty Letters: Gazing out my window

Gazing out my window this morning, I noticed a strange looking creature sashaying down the sidewalk. It was very thin, wiry and pointy – and it had large circular black and grey markings on his side. My guess is that it was a fox. There is reportedly a den in the bushes behind McDonald’s about a mile up the road. I ran outside in my housecoat – it was 6 am – and stared at the beast as he made his way down the street.

Seconds later, a police vehicle drove up to him as he scored some… Continue

Baby Blue Birds and my pets reactions

I have been very excited the last few days as I have a pair of blue birds that had five eggs hatch in the box in my backyard on Thursday. They have a baby from their previous brood (hatched elsewhere) that has joined them to live in my back yard. The kitties and my dogs enjoy watching them eat meal worms on my back porch, and especially my OLBH (big baby) Apollo loves watching the baby hop around my back yard and mom flying around as we come around the corner into the back yard, Speaking of my… Continue
