NOT ONE PIT BULL RESCUE OFFERED TO HELP "MIRACLE"

A nice lady found "Miracle" chained by a choker chain. Underfed, loss
of muscle mass, and noncontagious mange. She called DDB (Dogs Deserve
Better). DDB sponsored Miracle. She was spayed, given all her needed
shots, she is heart worm negative, and wormed. She is two years old, and
non dog aggressive, non people aggressive. She will be extensively
tested Monday morning at Campbowwow in Carmel. She is very sweet. The
first time I met her right after she had been taken from her chain, she
jumped up on the fencing and gave me slobbery kisses. I then put a
harness on her and walked her around the yard. She had never seen me in
her life. But she immediately accepted me. Before being chained she
lived in a home with a jack russell terrier and older children. Pit
Bull are prone to mange if in a stressful situation. Not one Pit Bull
Rescue has offered to help us. I sent out over 200 emails to rescues,
and cross posted everywhere. One womaN emailed that she may be
interested. The nice woman that rescued "Miracle"
cannot keep her due to having 5 dog of her own, cats, and horses and a
limited income. She needs her to be gone NOW. One rescue did come
forward , a very nice woman, but I was told by other rescue that the
dogs in this rescue are constantly fighting to the point of dogs going
to the hospital 5 every week and 1 was skinned alive by another dog. I
couldn't send her there, I am sure the woman is like me, hate to say no
to a dog that needs saved, but has so many to control.

I feel like renaming Miracle, "No One Cares" cause it sure seems that
way.
I know that not all dogs can be saved, but we can "Save Miracle", please
help Miracle. One rescuer said : Somethings are worse then Euthanasia".
Really?
Seriously? Another told me : "She's better off being euthanized" why?
Because she was neglected by a "HUMAN", put on a chain by a "HUMAN", and
now no "HUMAN" wants to save her by fostering her or giving her a
wonderful forever home. Why not me? Well I have 5 dogs, 1 being a male
pittie that doesn't like other dogs in his pack. And I also have 2
birds.
Can't somebody save "Miracle" Please help her, she is healing
wonderfully.

I think you have done a wonderful thing in rescuing "Miracle." It is hard to understand that not one person would be interested in owning such a lovely dog in such need. I think the tremendous over breeding of pit bulls and the fact people do not understand that they are dogs that require a comittment (as all dogs do) and that they are not "Macho status symbols or created for cruel fighting championships" has led to a huge influx in all shelters of these dogs. If there is anyone out there who wishes to own a pit bull, they should adopt one from a shelter or rescue and not bring more into the world through breeding. Just visit any shelter and a large percentage of the dogs there will be pit bulls that have been discarded by owners who did not understand the nature of the breed when they got one. They are big, high energy dogs that require lots of exercise and space to run. They are very strong, and require someone who can handle them on a lead, but most of all require love and a comittment just like any other dog. Suggestion: You might contact as a last resort "Best Friends Society" in Kanab, Utah. They work with rescue organizations and assist in special circumstances. It's a shot. I, too, have many dogs and cats or I would seriously consider adopting "Miracle." She deserves a special owner after what she has been through. Mona Cross

Why is my dog scratching so much – it drives us all crazy?!?

Sounds like someone has allergies.  Typically, allergies are of three types – food, fleas and hay fever. If we prevent fleas, take care of the food allergies, then the hay fever allergies can be lessened. The most common food things that dogs are allergic to are the things they eat most commonly: chicken, beef, lamb, eggs, wheat, corn, soy. These are the things that are in all of their foods. Sometimes its as easy as go to a grain-free food. Sometimes, you have to do an elimination diet and…

Know Your Breed: Affenpinscher

It make look like a Wookie from Star Wars, but this little breed is gaining celebrity status on its own.

The Affenpinscher won best in show at Westminster 2013.  But this breed has humble beginnings. The affenpinscher was bred in the 1800’s to catch rats and vermin.
It stands between…
