Shelter dog writes touching letter to Santa

Noblesville, Ind.,- Upon arrival this morning, the staff found the attached letter to Santa written by a dog named Odie, one of the shelter’s longest standing residents.

Read the entire letter at the bottom of page.

The staff believes the shelter’s cats and dogs chose Odie as their spokes-dog in hopes he might convince Santa to answer their plea for a forever home by Christmas Day.

“Finding the letter was definitely a shock to all of us,” said HSHC executive director Rebecca Stevens. “I’m not sure how Odie did it, but his letter has touched our hearts as we too wish for the same thing—a home for every shelter dog and cat this holiday season.”

To help encourage adoptions, the Humane Society for Hamilton County is offering some incredible incentive packages for the 25 cats and 25 dogs that have been waiting for homes the longest. The featured 25 cats will come with a reduced adoption fee of $35 plus:

$25 Gift Card to Pet Supplies Plus
$25 Gift Certificate to Platinum Pet Services
6 months of FREE flea/tick preventative
Gift basket of treats and toys

And the featured 25 dogs will come with a reduced adoption fee of $45 plus:

Additionally, all pets come spayed or neutered, current on vaccines and microchipped. “We’ve had record animal intake months in both September and October leaving us with our kennels and catteries filled with heart-breaking faces,” Stevens added. “We have an unbelievable selection of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens who shouldn’t have to wake up in a shelter Christmas morning.
