I haven't written in a while. Two weeks ago, we brought home the boys after a visit to grandma and grandpa's house. Imagine my surprise the next evening when I noticed both dogs were COVERED in spots. They looked like they had dog pox! We rushed them to the Indiana Veterenary Emergeny Clinic, where they were diagnosed with a nasty case of hives. Two hours and nearly $200 later, we were on our way with a bag full of medicine and two sick puppies.

I don't have kids, but now I understand why my mother always used to say she felt helpless when I was sick. It was heartbreaking to see my dogs so miserable. I had to yell at them or pull their paws away when they'd try to scratch, and they would just look at me -- wounded and confused. It took nearly a week for the spots to clear. We never did determine the root cause.

Long story short, their skin and my nerves have survived the hives. But I dread the next time they are sick...

Indiana’s Weather For Wednesday

seven-day-indy-scaled
Take a deep breath. We are finished with the 80′s and 90′s for the rest of the week and at least half the weekend. Expect breezy, dry west to northwest winds today and a good dose of sunshine. The mix tomorrow will be mostly clouds, and we’ve got a decent shot at wonderfully wet, widespread [...]
